Meet Victoria

Not your average publicist, I combine a nuanced understanding of African markets with creative flair.

I did not follow the traditional path to specializing in PR & Communications.

I was born and raised in the US. At the University of Virginia, where I did my undergraduate studies, I discovered a deep fascination in the Middle East and subsequently Africa.

After graduation, I moved to Damascus, Syria to learn Arabic. I then worked in financial journalism, living in Dubai and Cairo.

But, by 2012, I grew fascinated with African markets. This was the apex of “Africa Rising”, and I must admit, I fell under its spell. The limitless possibilities across sub-Saharan Africa were thrilling, and later that year, I visited Lagos, Nigeria for the first time.

Pursuing a career in journalism is not for the faint of heart, and after a series of serendipitous events, I moved into agricultural research, relocating to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

I eventually started trading cocoa beans and cashew nuts, but after a total of six years in commodities, I was burnt out and deeply unhappy. The corruption, lack of progress, and empty rhetoric was disheartening, and nothing seemed to get better.

To channel my frustration with my day job, I created a podcast on African startups, giving me the opportunity to learn from, and provide a platform for, visionary entrepreneurs.

I was soon hooked. An opportunity presented itself to help deliver meaningful and effective communications and PR for African tech entrepreneurs and I leapt at the chance.

My background might seem unusual, if not downright weird.

But, it’s my superpower.

I combine on-the-ground knowledge of African markets, years of media and public relations experience, with a sixth sense for what makes compelling and unforgettable brand narratives. It is my absolute joy to utilize these talents to bring African stories to regional and global audiences.
